5 year old wisdom

These are some funny Parker stories I wanted to write down so I could remember them. REad on if you want! Parker lastnight for some reason started talking about burping. Probably because my child has always been advanced in this and sounds like a full grown man sometimes! He at least says excuse me after he burps but still working on that we don't always do this so loudly in public. Anyway, I asked why people burped. He said you burp after you eat. I said why. He said because your body makes you. I said why..he said "would you stop asking me why"..oh payback is not fun is it my little Parker! Then he went on to say "because the food mixes with the other food and you burp." LOL! A little while later Parker said something about if I saw angels and that they were dead. I said no, angels are not dead they live in heaven with Jesus. I went on to say and you know we have angels up there like Grandaddy Bryant and Uncle Joseph and.... before I could say anything else he looked at me and said, "Momma, where is Uncle Joseph's stone that says his name" I knew exactly what he meant. I said "Paris, TN" He looked at me all confused and said "Under the Sea?" I could not help but laugh. I guess Paris, TN does kinda sound like Under the Sea if you have never heard of it before! This happened last year at Christmas but I was reminded of it while putting up my tree this year and I had wished I had written down the event so I could have remembered it better but here goes this story. I had a very pretty big bow at the top of the tree. Parker had a FIT! "Momma, our tree is NOT a girl tree." I said "What?" He said "It has a big hair bow and our tree is not a girl tree. A tree is suppose to have a STAR..duh." So I had to go buy a star. Thank goodness Wal Mart had a tasteful pretty star that matched my pretty gold ribbon. So because when Parker was 4 and had a fit that a tree had to have a star, our tree will have a star on top with the bow too!

First Trip to the ER for Parker

I don't even remember now what night that was...Monday night I think. It started at about 12 Laney was up crying for some reason and finally we got her back to sleep. About 2 we hear Parker in his room coughing a croupy cough and Jason and I both look at each other like Ugg not again we are never going to get sleep. I go in Parker's room and start the drill. He got the croup several times when he was really little. So I go turn the shower on to make his bathroom a steam room and go get some cough syrup. I come back to give him the syrup and he is coughing and crying and gasping for air and wheezing. Ok, that is not normal. I start to panic a bit and pick him up to carry him to the bathroom hoping the steam will open him up and he just continues to struggle to breathe. At this point, I am convinced he is having an asthma attack. He has never been diagnosed with Asthma but given that my Dad and Jason's brother Joseph had asthma and my Mom has it, I have always knew it could be a possibility. I called for Jason and he came in there and tried to calm Parker down after he freaked out a bit himself. I did not say anything to Jason about I think we need to take him to the dr but I was thinking it especially after I thought his lips looked a little blue. Jason told Parker we were going to get dressed and go to the dr. So they left me and Laney there. I am in tears just wanting to be with my baby boy. I knew my Mom would come over in a minute and would probably be mad at me the next day for not calling so I did. Of course she came right over to stay with Laney so I could go to the hospital. My sister of course then knew about it and had to come with us to the hospital. By the time I got there Parker was breathing much better. They gave him a breathing treatment, steroid and antibiotic shot. He did have the croup and it was just really closing his airways. So glad it is not asthma. He also had a respiratory infection. We got to leave the hospital at about 3:30. It scared the mess out of me that Parker was struggling to breath. Thank goodness he got better and sleep till 11 that morning! While he was taking the breathing treatment my sister said I wish I had a camera. I wish I did too! He did so good and thought it was fun because we said he looked like someone from Star Wars!
We have our tree up and we are all getting ready for Christmas! Parker got to wear his pjs to school on Friday to watch the Polar Express. Wish he could wear pjs everyday! It was so easy getting him dressed. Check out his pjs too! They have cute red/white striped pants that go with it. Anyway, here are a few pictures.

Parker decorating the tree
Parker in his pjs for school. Can you read what they say? "Dear Santa, It wasn't me!" Ha, so Parker!
This robe thing was something my Dad had, we have it for days at school when he has to dress up like someone from China or something. Anyway, from time to time he puts it on and lounges in it. We call him our "little Hugh Hefner" when he wears this around! LOL!

Laney looking at the tree.

Ut Oh. Do you see that blanket and toys back there? That is where she was when I left her for 2 minutes.Parker had to wrap Mimi's present. He did such a good job!

Children are such a Blessing

I know I say this all the time but where does the time go. The past 8 months have been just awesome having our new addition to the family. She is not yet on the move but it will be soon. She is rolling all over the floor and is starting to try and get in the crawl position. This past month she finally got the bottom 2 teeth. Her vocabulary is mostly baby talk but she does say Momma and Dada and sometimes bye. She will wave that backwards bye bye. It is so cute when they do that. I know it is backwards but think about it...that is what they see so they think it is right. I think her favorite foods so far are pancakes and mac n cheese. She is doing so good picking up food and eating it herself. Half ends up in her lap but she does get a good bit to her mouth. She is truly a blessing to our family!

I don't have a new picture this week of her. Well I do but it is for the Christmas cards and don't want to share that just yet! Look for them coming to your mailbox soon..hopefully before Christmas!

The only thing besides work this week that happened was Parker had his Christmas Play at school. He was so cute. He kept trying to find us by putting his hand over his eyes looking for us.

Parker and some of his classmates getting ready to sing. He so looks like his Daddy when he is serious looking!

After his performance. He is such the model! Look at him posing!

The last week a bunch of families have been heavy on my heart. Please pray for the following families...

Little Jacob Carver the nephew of my dear friend Dawn was diagnosed with Eye Cancer in both eyes. It has a name but I can't remember it right now. He is 6 months old. Please see his caring bridge site. I know St. Jude will take good care of him.

http://www.caringbridge.org/visit/jacobcarver

Then in the same week..2 babies here in this small town we live in died of SIDS. They were both little boys one was 2 months old and the other about 3 months. I don't know either of them or their families but they have been on my mind. Please pray for these families.

Then a friend sent me a site about a girl she went to highschool who recently had her twin girls at 26 weeks. They are fighters and seem to be doing well last I checked. Just pray for those families that have babies in the NICU.

I could go on about the families on my mind latley who have lost little babies or are going through some health issues. They just all have been in my thoughts and prayers lately.

All these families just remind me how special and what a true gift children are from the Lord. I want to take a minute and thank the Lord for all of the new miracles he gave this year to my friends! I know we spend a lot of time praying for those in need but I also want to Praise the Lord for these sweet babies that were born this year! I tried to list them in birth order and good grief a lot of my friends had babies!! I hope I spelled all their names right and that I did not miss anyone! Thank you so much Lord for these Sweet babies!!!!

Happy Thanksgiving and Hotty Toddy!!!!

This has been a great week minus Laney was sick at the first of the week again. This time some type of throat thing. But by Thursday she was better. We had a great Thanksgiving with my mom, sister and both Jason's brothers and wives. We ate a lot. Laney had a great First Thanksgiving and she was actually able to eat some of our food! Parker's first Thanksgiving all he got to eat was his milk! Laney enjoyed some turkey, roll and her favorite mac n cheese. We had a great day. Our family has so much to be thankful for this year! Two healthy kids that we Thank God for everyday!

Ok, I am ready to try some Turkey!

MMM..pretty good

More..More!!

Parker having some Thanksgiving lunch!

Friday my dear friend Jennifer and her husband Richard that now live in Cincinnati were down for the week. Jennifer and I worked together at Andersen. Anyway, she was so nice to invite all of us up to Oxford for the Egg Bowl. She has 3 kids..Max who is almost 8, Tate who just turned 5 and Eloise who is 10 months old. Parker was so excited to go and play with Max and Tate. Richard's parents were nice enough to keep Parker while we went to the game. I gave Parker the choice of coming with us but of course he picked to stay and play with Max and Tate playing their own football in the Grove. Laney went with us and she was super good. Even took a nap among 55,000 football fans!! We had awesome seats too! 50 yard line second row! Felt like I was on the field! It was also a super bonus to see the Rebels run over State! 45-0!!! Hotty Toddy! Most fun though was getting to see The Johnsons again. Max has grown up so much and Tate too! He was a baby last time I saw him! So excited to see cute little Eloise for the first time! Thanks so much Jennifer! We had a great time and hope we get to come see ya soon and hope to do the Egg Bowl again!!! Parker wanted to come see them again today!

Laney, Me and Jenn at the game

Look at that face!! She has started making this face all the time!

In case you did not believe me..napping at the game. All this cheering has worn me out!

Max, Parker and Tate in the Grove! What a cute group of boys!

Future Ole Miss Roommates!! Eloise and Laney!

Also deer season opened up here and Parker is all about hunting. He can not wait for Daddy to take him and Jason promises too when he gets a stand big enough for Parker too up. In the meantime my little hunter tried out his Camo too!

What a cute little hunter!!

One little, two little Indians

I know you probably wonder where in the world we have been. 2 words...Stomach Virus. It was awful. Last Friday when I dropped off Laney at daycare, the teacher from next door said she only had 5 kids that day. I asked where they were and she said they were sick with a virus. I asked what kind and she said stomach. So when at 1 am I hear Laney making a funny noise, I went to check on her and she was covered in throw up. I knew I was in for a long night. Bless her heart, a baby with the stomach virus is no fun. That was the first time I ever dealt with a baby with that. Parker was 2 when he first got that. Sunday night, at 2 am (why do these things hit in the middle of the night?) I hear Parker sounding like he is about to throw up and I go in there and what do I find...yep Parker in the bathroom about to throw up. I checked his bed and sure enough he had not made it in time. Ugg.... At least a 5 year old knows the drill and what to do but I spent all night cleaning out his "bowl" I knew if I made it through a baby throwing up on me all night and a night of cleaning out a bowl of throw up all night without getting this nasty virus, it would be a miracle. Needless to say, there was no miracle. Yep, you guessed it. Who woke up Monday night with it but me. Thankfully we are all better now and the biggest baby of us all escaped the week without getting it....Jason. Thank you Lord!!! Seriously, he is an awful patient. So that is pretty much where we have been. Oh Laney is getting tooth number 2! You can now see it!

Bless her baby heart. So sick can't even close her eyes good to sleep.

Same night after I managed to put some pjs on her while she was sleeping. This is how she likes to sleep. So sweet! Well usually in her own bed but she was sick.

Bless his heart! The dog even looks like he does not feel good.

I do have one funny story. Parker finally got to go to school Wednesday. He goes to after school care and I think he must like it and likes playing with kids. He really is not a kid who likes to play alone at all. Anyway, my Mom picks the kids up every day. She mostly waits and picks him up at 4:45 when they are done playing and are in the line waiting to be picked up. That day she went a little early. They were still on the playground. Parker looked at her and said "Mimi, you are seriously interfering with my playtime." Momma said, I could not help but laugh. He is a mess. I swear though he is a future doctor. He is so into anything medical. He is watching a show on Discovery Health about a person getting a prosthetic arm as we speak.

Both kids at their separate schools made Indian shirts (well I of course made Laney's but Parker did help a lot with his) and Indian garb. Laney's school had their Indian march today and she came home with her shirt still on. Parker's was last week but I made him put it on so I could get this picture. I wish I would not have thrown away his other stuff or I would have made him put his headdress on and her. she had one too. They do so much with those babies. It is almost funny. She seriously comes home with some type of artwork everyday. I will have to take some pictures of her master pieces. Anyway..here is a picture from today! My little Indians. Oh Parker's name this year was Wise Owl and Laney was Little Sunflower.

And We have Teeth!

Well, just one so far but it has finally broken through! It did yesterday. You can not see it real well but I can really feel it now! Laney is now 7 months old too! I need to write this stuff down everything she is doing so I am using this as her virtual baby book. I have one but it is so much easier to put it here and go back and write it in her book! She is really getting around. Not crawling but scoots on her booty and will roll everywhere to get what she wants. I left her on one place on her blanket yesterday for 5 minutes and came back and she was 3 feet from that spot! Parker and I got a laugh out of seeing where she would end up. Laney also is eating some table food. She loves any kind of bread. Not surprised since her daddy and Parker can't miss a meal without bread! Laney says Momma and Bye bye when she wants to. She is babbling away some baby language all the time. She recognizes and looks for us when she hears our voices. She still very much is a Mamma's girl. Her daycare ladies are so sweet and they commented the other day how cute she looks everyday in all her cute clothes. Ms. Rendia called Laney their "little Miss America!" Ha! Laney loves her routine. She wants to eat about 6:30, bath at 7 then her milk then sleep by 7:30 or 8. SHe is a big girl and sleeps all night in her own bed. This was not the case with her big brother for a long long time! She wakes up about 7 except this time change had her messed up for a few days where she thought 5:45 was a good time. I think I have her broken of that. When Laney does wake up, she hardly makes a peep. I go in her room to find her looking around sucking that thumb. It is so cute too. She wants to be sucking her thumb and holding her blankie up to her mouth. It is a sure way to get her to go to sleep, letting her hold her soft blankie. She loves her big brother. She hears him and pop those eyes go open wide looking for him. She is such a sweet baby and has stolen our hearts.

Parker is growing up so much. He is such a little adult and wants to be just like his daddy. We took some duplicate toys back that he got for his birthday and he found this deer hunting game with a riffle that you point at the tv and go hunting. He wanted it and had just enough credit to get it! He has been playing it ever since he got it and loves for his daddy to play with him. His daddy likes it too! They killed a lot of "deer buckers" as Parker calls it. I hope Jason wants a hunting buddy soon! Parker is so interested right now in trying to read. So far, he reads for sure the words No, Stop, Van and of course his name. He is constantly asking me to spell out words and he sounds out words all the time. Parker also I noticed is reading numbers more correctly. I mean like 148 or 128. He use to say 1..4...8. Now he will actually say it right (one hundred forty eight). He is just getting to know so much! Parker was sick this week and we went to the dr and they weighed and measured him. So at 5 he is 51 pounds and 45 inches tall. Parker really entertained everyone at the drs office. He is just so friendly and was speaking to everyone asking them their names and telling them his. He had them laughing. He is so full of personality and is so sweet. My sweet little boy is just a blessing to us and keeps us all smiling!

Halloween Week

Halloween week because that is exactly what it was. We had something every night this week except Thursday night and can I say I am completely worn out! It did not help that Jason is swamped and worked late the entire week so Momma was on her own for all of these trips! Well I did have a bit of help from my wonderful Mom. Can I just say that no Momma should live too far from their own Momma when you have little ones! I love it that is it odd if my kids go one day without seeing their Mimi. Anyway.... first Monday night, we had Halloween Carnival at Laney's school. Somehow too I ended up in charge of it. Well not the entire thing. It is a carnival that the sororities at the college and the Child Development Center sponsor together every year. It is fun for the kids. The sororities do the games and the center does the food. So I was over getting all the food together and serving it. We cooked 150 hot dogs and served up Cheetos, cookies, cupcakes and koolaids. By the end of the night I was a zombie! Tuesday night, Parker's school had a "Hoedown" He goes to a private school that is at a church so they don't do the costumes and stuff but the kids all learn line dances and western songs, dress up like a cowboy and do their little song by the class. Parker' s class was adorable! Wednesday night, we had our church thing. This year they got this awesome petting zoo with all kinds of animals. They had goats, donkeys, a lama, sheep, ducks, turtles and some other animals. They also had a train that took the kids for a ride. The head of the train was Thomas. Parker still likes Thomas but a few years ago he would have just LOVED that! Then there was pizza for everyone. Thursday night, no where to go but we had to carve at least one of our pumpkins. After that, I was sleeping by 9. Do you blame me. Don't forget my week and weekend I had before (see post below). Friday since Laney's school is at the college, they trick or treat around campus . I had a conference call that day so I just worked from home for that and then met up with them trick or treating. She conked out in the middle of it. I am so glad my friend Kim let me borrow the costume. I wasn't going to get her one until I remembered about the trick or treating around campus and I felt bad that we even had a costume. Of course Friday night, I took the kids normal trick or treating. Oh and that afternoon I had to make a trip to the dr. Laney was congested and coughing and I am glad I did because she was working on a chest infection/bronchitis. Today we had a birthday party. Parker cracked us up. The magician held up some cards and asked the kids what kind of cards they were and my kid loudly said "Poker cards." The adults fell out laughing and I said yeah, that was mine. Jason watches those icky world series of poker stuff on tv.
Anyway, we had a fun week! Enjoy all the pictures from the week!!

Parker at the Halloween carnival. He was suppose to be a skeleton but he grew in a month and it was too tight so he was a transformer.

Laney the bumblebee

Is this not the cutest little cowboy you have ever seen?

He kept saying he had to make a mad face to be a cowboy and kept trying so hard not to giggle!

This time he wanted me to take his picture smiling!

At the Church petting zoo. Parker feeding the baby goat. (I think that is a goat) Parker showing Laney the racing turtle! She looks interested!

Feeding the animals

Momma did not do too bad! Daddy has been working all week really late so it was up to Momma

Carving pumpkins..this was what we did Thursday. Better late than never.

Laney on Halloween with out pumpkin and in her Halloween outfit. Cute little witch!

Trick or treating on campus. Getting lots of candy!

Half way through she went to sleep and still got lots of candy. That is how to Trick or Treat!

Trick or treating for real on the real Halloween night.
